THROWBACK THURSDAY

My dad built two go-carts out of scrap metal and lawn mower motors. And me, my brothers and sister would drive them up and down our long driveway. And it was totally safe as you can see in the photo above.

THROWBACK THURSDAY

When my parents built an addition to their house, the carpenters cut a bunch of 2x1s in to small blocks for me and my brother. I used to create these elaborate domino-style spectacles all over the house. (and I have no idea what I am wearing... we'll blame it on the baby-sitter.)

THROWBACK THURSDAY

That's me. Circa 1978. Outside the first house where we lived in Ohio. Check out my awesome tennies. I love that hilarious conversion van in the background.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

If you are in the USA, happy Independence Day. This is my great-grandfather's citizenship application from 1906!

THROWBACK THURSDAY

Yes, that's me. 1977. I've been wearing stripes ever since I wore this Garanimals get-up. Speaking of mix and match 1970s children's clothing, check out this 1975 TV advert...

MOTHER

Happy Mother's Day to my fabulous mother! Photos of my mom, circa 1978, 1958 and 1969... and yes, that's me when I was approx. 4 years old.

VINTAGE COLLECTIONS :: JARS WITH TYPE

I love anything with type... it's the graphic designer in me. So when I first found the "3 Liter" jar I did a little dance. Instead of putting it in the shop, I decided to keep it... and the collection started.

Most I have found thrifting. The "1 Liter" jar I found on Etsy. I'm hoping I can find a "2 Liter" jar and the "Sugar" jar to complete the two sets. I believe there is a set similar to the "Misc" jar, too.

What vintage collections do you have?

ZOO

One of my goals for the blog is to add a few personal posts from time to time. I thought I'd share some photos of my trip to the zoo yesterday...

I love lemurs, but this Coquerel’s Sifaka was just as cute hopping from tree to tree. The mother and baby Bonobo were crazy cute. The baby came up to the glass and looked at us with the cutest darkest biggest eyes. It was totally amazing.

Lots of animals had babies, like these Gibbons. My opinion of zoos aren't that favorable, but at least these captive animals can reproduce.

J. was in town from LA visiting for the week. I had him pose next to the gorilla statue since I always call him my "gorilla." I love this photo of him... very cute!

Have any of you been to the zoo recently?

PHOTO SHOOT

I've been spending some time over the past few days taking photos of my apartment for an upcoming online house tour. I thought I'd share some with you...

SCENES FROM MY WEEKEND

This weekend I was productive... I cleaned out and redecorated areas of my apartment. What did you do this weekend?

SCENES FROM MY WEEKEND

I've been in Los Angeles having a blast for the past week. Hanging out with friends, making new ones, enjoying the awesome weather and learning my way around. Thanks to Dabito for the last photo of me eating way too much at brunch on Saturday!

What did you do this weekend?

DAD

Happy Father's Day, dad!

WISH LIST :: GRAY

I'm loving some gray mixed with black! Anything gingham is classic. The "script Ohio" tshirt has lots of meaning to me. I'm always looking for a nice pair of slim fit black trousers and matching blazer. Those tennies are amazing. And I have too many scarves, but another one wouldn't hurt!

Blazer and trousers from Uniqlo
Gingham shirt from Muji
OHIO tshirt from Homage
Scarf from Forzieri
Shoes from Adidas

WELCOME

Hello and welcome to my new blog! Many of you may know me from my previous blog, drew-o-rama. One thing led to another and before I knew it six months had passed and my old blog became, well, my old blog.

I waffled back and forth for a while about what to do and realized the best option, and the one I am most excited about, was to launch a new blog with a new focus. So, here I am!

Kitsch Café Blog will be focused on vintage style with the very occasional glimpse in to my life. The last blog was mostly about me. This blog is about you! Please contact me to let me know what you want to see and what you think is working and isn't working.

Welcome and enjoy!
